Who we are
Meridian operates a platform that connects companies hiring engineers with independent technical interviewers. Three groups of people appear in it: company users, interviewers, and the candidates being interviewed. We handle data about all three and the rules differ for each.
What we collect
From company users: name, work email, the company they belong to and their role in it. Their activity in the product, so an audit trail exists for hiring decisions.
From interviewers: name, email, professional background, the skills and interview types they claim, availability, and their rate. Reviews written by our team during the approval process.
About candidates: only what the hiring company gives us, which is typically name, email, timezone and the role they applied for, plus the evaluations written about their interviews. We are a processor for this data; the hiring company decides what to send us and why.
What we do not collect
We do not ask for or store demographic information about candidates — age, race, religion, gender, disability, marital status or anything comparable. It is not collected, not inferred, and not present in any evaluation form. Structured interviewing works by asking everybody the same questions and recording what was observed, and any of these attributes entering the process would undermine that.
We do not record or transcribe interviews, and we do not run models over candidate answers to score or profile anybody.
Who sees what
An interviewer sees the candidate’s name and the interview brief, and only after they have accepted the assignment. They do not see contact details, internal recruiter notes, or another interviewer’s evaluation.
A company sees submitted evaluations for their own candidates, and an interviewer identified by first name and surname initial. They do not see interviewers’ private working notes, rates, contact details, or our internal review notes.
Our own team can see operational state in order to support the service. Members of our team do not author or edit the content of anybody’s evaluation.
Retention
Evaluations are retained while the hiring company needs them for the decision they informed, and are deleted on request from that company. Interviewer accounts are retained while active and for as long afterwards as we need to settle payment. Audit records outlive the data they describe, because an audit trail that can be deleted is not one.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the data we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Use the form on our contact page, choosing “Data protection”. If you are a candidate, we will usually need to pass the request to the company that is hiring you, because they decide what happens to it — we will tell you when we do that.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle data in a way that affects you, we will say so here and update the date below. Material changes affecting candidate data are notified to the hiring companies who sent it, because they are the ones who have to tell their candidates.
